Jamaica Bay By Land, Sea and Air: A Family Fun Day Presented by NYC Parks and the National Park Service
Come learn how to explore Jamaica Bay by land, sea and air! Activities and demonstrations include camping, kayaking, fishing, live birds of prey, viewing historic aircraft, and more!

Join NYC Parks & the National Park Service for a free family fun day: Jamaica Bay by Land Sea and Air.
The day begins with raptors and birds of prey at noon, presented by the Oyster Bay Theodore Roosevelt Audubon Sanctuary. This event is a live animal show and tell that will include a selection of birds of prey that can be seen up close.
Master Storyteller Jonathan Kruk will be telling stories to kids with his Flights of Fancy: Planes Birds and Dragons at noon, 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. in the Ryan Center, and the Bossy Frog Band will perform on the porch of the Ryan Center at 2:00 p.m.
In addition to these scheduled events there will be opportunities to try kayaking, biking, tent set up, fishing, hiking/birding, and garden walks. There will be food vendors on site during the event, and plenty of free parking.

The Future Penn and Fountain Parks Bike and Hike Tour
Join the Jamiaca Bay Greenway Coalition on a 8-mile bike ride along the greenway and a 1.6-mile hike on the newly restored Penn Park guided by the NYCDEP.

Join the Jamiaca Bay Greenway Coalition on a 8-mile bike ride along the greenway and a 1.6-mile hike on the newly restored Penn Park guided by the NYCDEP and in cooperation with the Friends of Penn & Fountain Parks. The tour will highlight the Greenway as the best access to existing and potential parks in South Brooklyn. Youth 14 years and older are welcome to participate, but must be accompanied by a parent. Space is limited to 25 people.
Tour Details:
The 10:30 am ride departs from Ryan Visitor Center at Floyd Bennett Field. 4-mile ride along Jamaica Bay Greenway to Brooklyn Sports Club. 20-minute reststop to refill water, and use the restroom (there are no restrooms available thereafter). 1.6-mile hike around the potential Penn Ave park guided by NYCDEP. 4-mile return ride to Floyd Bennett Field.
Participants should be in good health and prepared to complete the entire tour.
What to bring:
Comfortable walking shoes, water bottle, a snack, camera, bike and helmet.
