Public Art Opening: Boogie Down Booth: Melrose at O’Neill Triangle
Chat Travieso’s Boogie Down Booth, a colorful new public installation bringing Bronx music, solar–powered lights, seating, and community art launches at this public event.
The third installation of Chat Travieso’s Boogie Down Booth, a colorful new public installation bringing Bronx music, solar–powered lights, seating, and community art, launches at this public event on May 17. Travieso’s two previous Boogie Down Boothes appeared in 2014 under the 2/5 train at Southern Boulevard and Freeman Street and in 2015 in Seabury Park.
Each booth has been adapted for different sites. Boogie Down Booth: Melrose will include table space for students at Boricua College, people who work nearby, and the general public to enjoy, as a compliment to the existing benches in O’Neill Triangle. Located across the street from the future permanent site of the Bronx Music Heritage Center, the installation will be a way to inform people about this development. The installation will be open until May 2017.
