A Festival of Fools theatre company, in partnership with the 2013 New York International Fringe Festival, is pleased to announce the premiere of an original, full-length verse play: “A Game Without a Name: Being the Tale Wherein Impostor Acts the Fool” written by artistic director Timothy Bungeroth.
The free play will be performed outdoors as part of Fringe Al Fresco in August 2013, taking full advantage of the city landscape to present an exciting hour-long plunge into a world of myth, daring and imbecilic clowns.
In this play, the Fool is trapped inside the Primordial Zenith, unable to escape or understand his plight until a quartet of bumbling clowns appears. They lead the Fool through five acts of a cosmic, comic ritual, and a mythical masked trickster figure, the Impostor, appears. The Fool can’t escape until he knows why he’s there – but once he does, he’ll have to make a choice – escape or sacrifice.
The play, which is the origin story of Impostor, is written in iambic pentameter and brings new life to an old style of verse. The heroic couplets are accompanied by original choral music, swordfighting bouts, and rubber chickens battles. It’s a swashbuckling, rhyming adventure into a fantastical world of mythology.

Aladdin makes the shocking discovery that his father (voice of John Rhys-Davies), long believed dead, is actually the leader of this infamous band of thieves, and when his father falls into peril, Aladdin must rescue him — with the genie of the lamp (voice of Robin Williams) on hand to help.
