Join the Friends of Mathews Palmer Park & support the 45th/46th Street block association as they turn the outdoor community center into a Ride-In Theater.

Watch the 1979 cult classic “Breaking Away” under the Hell’s Kitchen stars. Bring your blankets, chairs, yummy treats, and friends!

There will be a special pre-show by world renowned New York Bike Dance, and bike tips, consults and discounts from our local shops, including Q&A with Al of Al’s Cycle Solutions, offering special in-store discounts!

Movies Under the Stars: West Side Story
Please note: This movie has been changed from Live from New York! to West Side Story.

Join NYC Parks and the New York City Mayor’s Office of Media and Entertainment for movies under the stars!

This Oscar-winning Romeo and Juliet drama brings New York City to life. In West Side Story, we are introduced to two rival street gangs: the Jets, second-generation American teens, and the Sharks, Puerto Rican immigrants. When the war between the Jets and Sharks reaches a fever pitch, Jets leader Riff (Russ Tamblyn) decides to challenge the Sharks to one last “winner take all” rumble. Not rated.

You should come before 7:00 p.m. to get your spot. Please bring your own picnic blanket or chair, as there is a limited supply of chairs reserved for seniors or people with disabilities. Free Outdoor Movie: Musical Chairs
Join us under the Hell’s Kitchen stars for an evening of music, dance and a free outdoor screening of Susan Seidelman’s award-winning Musical Chairs.

Join us for a fabulous evening under the Hell’s Kitchen stars as we turn Mathews Palmer Park into our very own outdoor theater. We’ll be celebrating 25 years of the Americans with Disabilities Act, in collaboration with the ReelAbilities: NY Disabilities Film Festival.

Come watch Susan Seidelman’s award-winning Musical Chairs and see if you recognize the New Yorkers and Hell’s Kitchenites in the film! The film depicts a romantic tale about two New Yorkers, Armando from the Bronx and Mia from the East Side, and their love of ballroom dancing. Mia is a vivacious professional dancer but a tragic accident forever changes her life. True to his heart, Armando dedicates himself, along with a group of colorful misfits, to help Mia deal with her challenges and dance once more.

In Sanctuary Park, Stoney and Greg have their fair share of problems, dealing with city life. While one hopes to find a place where she can be herself, the other frantically searches for a place to hide for his life. Just when it looks like it can’t get any worse, they find themselves joined by a depressed priest, who doesn’t seem to make their lives any easier.
