City Parks Foundation is excited to announce the return of its popular PuppetMobile production, Little Red’s Hood. Little Red’s Hood is a fresh retelling of the classic “Little Red Riding Hood” tale updated with a modern sensibility that will appeal to kids. The production features a dozen, hand-made marionettes crafted by the expert puppeteers from the Swedish Cottage Marionette Theatre. Like many of today’s children, Little Red is a smart, young city slicker who is to focused on her smartphone to notice her surroundings. Wulfric is a misunderstood wolf with a sweet tooth. When Little Red travels from New York City to the country to deliver some cupcakes to her Grandma, she encounters a colorful cast of characters as Wulfric the Wolf tries to head her off at the pass. Little Red’s Hood is directed by Swedish Cottage Marionette Theatre’s Artistic Director Bruce Cannon and written by Liam Hurley.

You can also pick up bags of mulch to take home with you and use on the trees on your street. Volunteer tree stewardship activities will include picking up litter and spreading mulch.

Cinderella Samba is a contemporary twist on the classic “Cinderella” fairy tale. The CityParks PuppetMobile production sets the timeless tale in the lush landscape of Brazil, where, thanks to the help of her fairy godmother, Cinderella attends Rio de Janeiro’s biggest Carnival gala and dances the samba with Prince Paulo himself. After Cinderella is forced to flee the gala just before midnight, the prince sets out to find the mystery woman who stole his heart, in hopes of marrying her.

The lively production features an original commissioned musical soundtrack that brings samba center-stage; handcrafted Carnival festival floats on parade; and one-of-a-kind marionettes donning their most vibrant Carnival costumes, created by the expert puppeteers from the Swedish Cottage Marionette Theater in Central Park.

Two performances will take place, the first at 11:0am and the following at 1pm.

This sculpture was made specifically for Maria Hernandez Park and the surrounding Bushwick community. The familiar picnic scene symbolizes the gathering, relaxing, and sharing we experience with friends and family. This hand-cast concrete picnic serves as a tribute to those symbols, turning a temporary happening into a static monument for participation and contemplation. Please join the artist for a community picnic to celebrate this new installation, which will be on view through March 20, 2019 near the park entrance at Knickerbocker Avenue and Suydam Street.

Newly arrived in California from New Jersey, teenager Daniel (Ralph Macchio) almost immediately runs afoul of karate-trained high school bullies. National Night Out – 83rd Precinct
National Night Out is an annual summer event in which precincts organize anti-crime rallies with the participation of local business and civic organizations.

National Night Out is an annual summer event sponsored by the National Association of Town Watches in which precincts organize anti-crime rallies with the participation of local business and civic organizations. Various Police Department units present displays, and other City, State and Federal agencies also take part. National Night Out has proven to be an effective and enjoyable police/community partnership. It is held on the first Tuesday of August every year.
